Welcome... back?

Just getting started, so stay tuned while I get things up and running.

...still waiting... no sooner did we launch and technology failed us, so still working on getting going...

In the meantime, I want to use this space to chronicle my musings... the world has become a very different place from a decade ago when Mermaid Musings 1.0 launched and primarily talked about abortion as a public health issue. So much has changed, and so much has not.

In those days, I did not imagine that the most qualified presidential candidate in the history of this country would be defeated by a fascist hell-bent on un-doing every modicum of social progress achieved in the past 60 years. That was, and remains, shocking.

I certainly did not imagine that 10 years later we would be fighting for our fundamental right to bodily autonomy... still mind-blowing that the right to an abortion didn't even last 50 years in the US. (remember Roe was meant to be the floor, not the ceiling?)

And while I was aware of the foundations of white supremacy and genocide upon which this country was built ten years ago, my understanding of how those things have shaped our current experience has definitely deepened and broadened.

These are things I hope to be musing over the next weeks and months...
